840 schoolchildren from 143 schools of the country competed in the finals of the First All-Ukrainian competition of social advertising among student youth "Waste Management School Recycling 2019".
Participants from Mykolayiv region received the most prizes, which the jury and the audience preferred.
The large-scale event took place on Thursday, April 4, in the concert hall "YOUTH" of the city of Nikolaev which hall was completely filled.
The participants of the competition were students of 5-11 grades from 143 secondary schools of Ukraine. Competitive works were submitted to the organizing committee from 14 oblasts, namely: Mykolayiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Volyn, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Cherkasy.

That is why the purpose of the competition is to draw public attention to existing problems in the field of environmental protection, popularization of ecological lifestyle, formation of ecological consciousness and culture. All that is not too late to fix to solve environmental problems in Ukraine.
"Earth's resources are depleted, every minute landfills around our cities are growing, land, water and air are polluted. Competitive works are aimed at showing the reality of the environmental problem of environmental pollution and information appeals to solve it. We are sincerely grateful to each participant for active participation and contribution to the development of the environmental movement. Our responsible attitude to the environment will increase the level of ecological culture, comfort of living conditions and economic growth of an entire generation. The competition was held in two formats: social video advertising and a social poster on the topics "World Cleanup Day", "Environmental protection - responsible consumption" and "Sorting - proper waste management. Waste is a resource. ” Participants created their own poster or shot a video for one of these categories, as well as for each of them. The main condition is to be original, bright and draw attention to the problem or motivate society to real action.
In total, the jury evaluated 77 videos and 66 environmental posters. As for the winners, the prizes were distributed as follows:
- in the category of social advertising "Poster": 1st place - Mykolayiv Secondary School №46; 2nd place - Mishkovo-Pogorilivska comprehensive school of I-II degrees; 3rd place - Mishkovo-Pogorilivska basic secondary school of I-III degrees; Audience Award - The Nikolaev specialized school "Academy of children's creativity";

«Why today we gathered in Nikolaev? Because our city is the first city of regional significance in Ukraine, where all schools sort waste. This project started in 2016 and during this time the Nikolaev school students saved 700 big trees, handed over for processing over 90 000 kg of secondary raw materials and created Eco-patrols. This experience of Nikolaev entered into the Book of Successes of Association of the cities of Ukraine », - noted Anna Ganjul, chairman of the organizing committee of the competition, coordinator of the School Recycling project in Mykolayiv.
